The Union Grand Experience
Spaces and Amenities
Life at Union Grand is about making the most of every day. The games room has a pool table, arcade games, a dart board and a turntable stocked with vinyl. The movie theater hosts regular film nights. The library and a puzzle room are great places to settle in and stay a while. The fitness center has exercise machines, free weights, plus balance support and stretch bands. The quiet room is built for your relaxation with a waterfall feature, sound therapy and a medicinal-grade aromatherapy diffuser.
Gardens and the City
Three outdoor garden areas are perfect for watching the birds, squirrels and bunnies that have made themselves at home here alongside you. Step outside the gardens and Capitol Hill, Pike Place Market, the new waterfront experience, Broadway Ave restaurants and the 5th Avenue and Paramount Theaters are all within easy reach. Union Grand’s First Hill address also puts you in Seattle’s medical district – home to some of the best physicians and specialists in the region, with transportation available for appointments.
Dining
Chef Sami has been feeding this community for years, turning out a rotating menu that moves confidently between Greek, Indian, Thai, Mexican and whatever else she’s been inspired by our residents to create. She holds a monthly menu meeting, takes your requests and has been known to recreate a dish you remember from childhood just because it mattered to you. Three chef-prepared meals are served daily, with dietary accommodation available with a doctor’s order.
Activities and Community
Live music fills the community every Thursday and Friday during happy hours. Every Tuesday, the Union Grand Revival Band takes the stage made up of residents, staff and family members plus a cousin of Jimi Hendrix on bass. A monthly resident planning meeting shapes an activity calendar that reflects what you want to do, like museum trips and visits to Snoqualmie Falls, the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival, the Nordic Heritage Museum, Seward Park and Lake Washington, where the Blue Angels put on a breathtaking show.
The community itself is as varied and alive as the neighborhood – veterans, artists, community volunteers, longtime Seattleites and everyone in between, connected by resident-led clubs, a volunteer program and the kind of daily engagement that gives life here its character.
Union Grand provides independent living, assisted living, memory and respite care that adapt as resident needs change over time. Our team works closely with residents, families and healthcare providers to ensure support remains personalized and responsive to each individual’s needs.
