Spokane, Wash. — Sept. 13, 2026 — As the wildfires consumed the blue skies, dense pine forests and rolling prairies in Spokane, the teams at Vineyard Park South Hill, Maplewood Gardens and Vineyard Park Cottages Spokane came together under our five foundational core values that make Vineyard Park what it is: Care, Consistency, Compliance, Community, Contribution.
Care meant offering comfort to frightened residents. Consistency meant remaining calm as conditions rapidly changed. Compliance meant following emergency procedures carefully. Community meant helping wherever you were needed, even beyond our own walls. Contribution meant giving time and energy even on days that were already draining.
It was an incredibly challenging time, but despite these challenges, every person played a vital role in answering the call. Rooms were prepared, meals were served, transportation was coordinated, emergency assessments were completed and families were kept informed through every evolving change.
As the Spokane community faced the wildfires, every team’s response spoke volumes about their compassion, dedication and courage in serving those who call Vineyard Park home. We are grateful to every person who brought our mission to life. This is truly what being rooted in community looks like.
In celebration of National Assisted Living Week (Sept. 13–19), established by the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL), Vineyard Park will recognize staff by launching a new 5C Champion Awards program to recognize excellence in care. This year’s theme, “Shining Through the Years,” is a fitting reflection of the team members whose dedication and commitment continue to shine through in the care they provide and the values they bring to our communities.
